Nitecore NL169R 950mAh Rechargeable RCR123 16340 Battery with USB-C Charging Port

While a great concept they are actually too big(length) for some applications.
I bought these specifically for my Olight PL-3S WML, they are too long. Customer service was great when I found out. Nitecore offered to exchange these for the non-rechargeable type[NL169]. No problem, I have the NC i4 charger already.

I have a TLR7 SUB and as far as I can tell, these batteries give it just a bit more of a kick. I don't have the ability to CHECK lumens/candela, but my eyes say that these are a slight increase in output on my light.
I saw a review stating that they didn't fit in a TLR-7X but I don't see how that's possible. They're the same size. As you can see in the picture.
I bought 3, just in case SHTF and I need to have backups. (Also have a few standard cr123's)
I have other Nitecore batteries and a D2 charger (which you CAN use for these if you'd like)

I was looking to buy a battery for my streamlight TLR-7X and rather then buying direct from streamlight and paying OEM pricing I thought I'd try to save a few bucks and try the Nitecore NL169R this battery is rated at 950 MAH where as Streamlights battery are only rated to 850 so I figured I'd get more time with the light on. The batterys were advertised as cross referencing to a 16340 Battery. They also sell a NL169 which cross refernces to the 16340 so I figured either one should work. The NL169 does not have the usb-c connector for charging but it is rechargable and also 950 MAH battery. I ordered the above battery NL169R with the usb-c and they sent me the NL169 batterys this is why I mention the other batterys. I recieved NL169 but I had no way of charging them because it did not have the usb-c charging port so I contacted customer service. They were quick to respond and offered for me to keep the first set of batterys and they would send me out the correct batterys. Since I was getting to keep the NL169 I asked if I could go ahead and order the charger from them as they were no good to me without a charger. I ordered the charger and it arrived with my NL169R batterys which is what I originally ordered. They did not fit my Streamlight they are too long. I checked the owners manual from streamlight and under the battery specs it gives a length which is shorter then these batterys. So unfortunitly they don't work for me. On a positive note the NL169 fit perfect and there still rechargable and hold more charge then the oem batterys. So overall im happy. I would really like to return the NL169R and get two more of the NL169 they seam to be a well made battery. On a side note I did plug the NL169R battertys into usb-c to see if they would charge as the should and they seam to function as they should. Just be sure what your using these for can except the additional length they require.

Will. It fit in any cr123a device I own

Make sure that your flashlight is compatible, as none of my Streamlight models would work with these. These are not one for one CR123 replacements. Otherwise they did charge up good. Waiting to see about durability.

2mm longer than standard 16340. If using stacked, the pair is now 4mm longer than standard 16340’s or CR123s. They will not fit any of my stacked or parallel weapon lights (Streamlight Protac, TRL 1, TRL 7, TRL 7sub, 180x and Surefire Scout).

Ordered just one for my Kodiak Kub because of the length question posed by other reviewers. Amazed how functional, versatile and bright this very small light is with a lithium battery powering up to 1000 lumens. I bought it on impulse because it seemed well built even though it was tiny, but when I found the NL169R at NITECORE, its usability score shot up in my estimation.

Visually, I was not able to see any clear difference in length between the factory battery and the NL169R. According to the specs it is 1/10" longer than the factory battery but it fit perfectly as far as I have been able to tell. The concept of charging a spare from a power bank or solar panel instead of a special battery charger, while still being able to use the light is genius!

I have not tested run time yet but the NL169R seems to power all the output levels perfectly and has more mAhs than the factory battery so I expect longer runs times at each output level.

The Kodiack Kub has a magnetic charging port, but it is fairly easy to accidentally disconnect it while charging. The NL169R with its USB-C port is securely attached to the charging cable eliminating accidental disconnects while charging.

Now that I know it fits, I'm ordering more to rotate through my light.

Nitecore rechargeable batteries are the best in my opinion. They hold a charge longer than anything i have used off of Amazon. Rhe 169r is way better than any 123a battery just due to the mah alone.

I wonder what devices these fit in cause they do not fit in my Stream Lite ProTacHL or any of my lights/headlamps that normally take CR123.
Returning them will cost me more than they are worth. They are not even good enough to be a paper weight.

great back up batteries for a head lamp you can charge a spare while sill using your light

Somehow it is longer than the 16340 batteries I got from Fenix for my Fenix headlamp. That might explain how they get the extra 150 maH and still have the USB-C port. Anyways, they were too big and my headlamp battery compartment didnt close fully, and it wouldnt work. Then a small break/tear in the outside of the battery formed, which is obviously extremely dangerous for a Li Battery you wear on your head.

This battery was purchased as a spare for my backpacking air mattress pump. I have since replaced my original battery with this battery due to its extended battery life. Love it!

Solid battery, good price when it'll last a while, and from a reputable brand unlike a lot of other batteries of a similar type which will commonly lie about their capacity. Also convenient and intuitive, plugging in the cable simply gives a red or green light indicating if it's charged.

Up to date USB C Charging, this is a must have.

I couldn’t find 650’s size but the description for the 950’s made it seem like they were the same thing only better. Unfortunately they are fractionally longer and I can’t get the battery compartment cap closed. So, they are not the same and I can’t really give an honest review on the quality only to he lack of description on size.

These batteries work awesome! They are also easy to recharge.

Great upgrade from the previous 600 mah battery.

These are about an eighth inch longer, and the standard 16340 but work just fine in my single battery flashlight. The USB C charging is a great option.Can be charged in the flashlight or by itself.

These batteries last longer than anything else I could find, they do not flicker and they do not lose power, they last for hours

two are only slightly longer than a similar 18650

Purchased for Streamlight tlr1, was under the impression this would replace CR123a battery, and be a viable rechargable option for the shtf bag, thankfully I only purchased one as a test and it does not fit. Did recently purchase a nitecore charger for some different CR123a rechargables however and it's pretty sweet, loving the fact it's Lifepo4 compatible. I'm definitely a nitecore fan, this battery just won't work for what I'm needing.
