The Nitecore EDC23 offers everything you need and want in an EDC flashlight. It has exceptional brightness and throw, delivering an impressive 2,500 lumens and a beam throw of up to 306 yards. At just 4.05 inches, the EDC23 is the shortest flat flashlight in Nitecore’s lineup to date, making it suited for everyday carry. At a weight of only 3.56 ounces, the EDC23 is easy to carry wherever you go. It is also weatherproof with an IP54 rating, and has 2-meter impact resistance, ensuring reliable performance in any environment.
Easy Operation
Designed for versatility, it provides five brightness levels and a Strobe mode. If the light turns off, the EDC23 features memorization and will return to the previously used mode. Its digital OLED screen displays the brightness level, remaining battery power, and more. For quick access, half-press and hold the mode button for Turbo, or fully press and hold it for Strobe. This makes EDC23 an excellent tactical flashlight as well. To prevent overheating, the EDC23 automatically reduces brightness if accidentally activated in High mode. This feature activates only when the light is turned on unintentionally and deactivates during regular use. Additionally, the EDC23 features an easy-to-use sliding lock switch to prevent accidental activation. It comes with two lockout modes: Semi and Full. In Semi Lockout, you can Turbo and Strobe, while Full Lockout will disable all functions.
USB-C Charging
The EDC23 can be conventionally charged through its built-in USB-C port. Once fully charged, the EDC23 can achieve a maximum runtime of 39 hours on its lowest mode and can be fully charged in just 1.5 hours.

I absolutely love this flashlight! It is a perfect size for EDC due to short and thin form factors. I replaced the clip with a deep carry clip though. The best part was that Nitecore company replaced it with a new one when the flashlight button had an issue after about 6 months of daily use. Thank you Nitecore.
Buttons not working. The light will turn on but will not turn off leading it to overheat. Great fire starter. I’ve tried contacting Nitecore about a replacement or even to fix the one I have but never heard anything back. Carried it everyday for 2 months before the buttons stopped working.
My favorite EDC light.. As a Code Enforcer I carry this baby with me at all times not to mention when I’m hunting or fishing. If it’s upgraded it could use a deeper pocket clip

They almost made a near perfect EDC flashlight. The flashlight itself operates great and has great controls, and good performance. I especially love the manual lock out switch. But they failed miserably with the pocket clip. I don't understand why they would put such a large clip on a smaller flashlight, but it makes it impossible to put it in your pocket one handed. The literal name of the flashlight is EDC but you don't want to have an EDC flashlight that requires 2 hands just to clip onto your pocket. The first thing I did was take the clip off and shorten it with a cut off disk until the replacement aftermarket clip arrived. Now the flashlight is amazing with a benchmade bugout clip. But this should have been fixed from the manufacturer.
Had this light for 8 months spring for power button failed and screen hasn't worked for about 2 months. Paid same price for a snapon one and its worked for over 7 years. Wont be buys anything from you guys again. Very disappointed, I take good care of my tools and what a let down.
I’ve owned several small edc flashlights over the years and this is by far my favorite. It’s cool lookin, bright as ever, works great, and other than the beefiness of it, fits great in the pocket compared to the cylinder style lights. My only complaint would be the lockout switch, it has to be in the top position to lock, but I accidentally unlock it when pushing it down to clip it in my pocket. The learning curve with the button controls is to be expected, but overall I love it!
Great light, bright and easy to operate. Perfect to carry at work where you don’t use a light constantly and need something low profile. Just consider the battery capacity and run time. Don’t blame the brand if this becomes a complaint, there are other options. Only critique I have is I hope they offer a clip in the future that would allow the light to sit lower in my front pocket.

Acually, this was a warranty replacement. Was pleased with the performance since new, main switch went bad.
Warranty service was great, I appreciate having the light back in service.

Failing to hold a charge after only a minutes of light use.
I received the EDC23 last Fall as a gift from a family member. It was purchased through Nitecore's store on Amazon. It was my first experience with this style of 'flat' light.
I've been belt-carrying the EDC23 for the past nine months or so, and it's a great light! The user interface is fairly intuitive and the display makes it easy to see brightness level, battery status, etc.. The lock switch also ensures that the light doesn't accidently turn on. At 2,500 lumens, it's plenty bright for most daily use cases!
My only concern with the design is the placement of the clip -- if pocket-carried, the top of the light sticks out too much and tends to catch on things. I don't generally pocket-carry this light, but it may be an issue for others who do.
Unfortunately, a month or so ago, the main power/mode select button started malfunctioning. The flashlight would only stay on if the power button was held, and the mode select only worked sporadically. I emailed Nitecore support about the issue, and Sam M. issued an RMA right away. Within a day of Nitecore receiving my malfunctioning light, a brand-new one was shipped to me at no charge.
I've been testing the replacement light for the past week or so, and it's working flawlessly so far. Very pleased with the service & flashlight! If you're in the market for a flat light, the EDC23 is definitely recommended! I'll be sure to update this review if anything changes, though.
For an everyday carry, it's pretty good. The clip is terrible, and the strobe setting is useless. But all in all, it's not awful for the price. If you're looking for a life-saving light, I really wouldn't recommend this one. It's good for some things, but it has had issues, and from the replacement I received, I can tell I'll have them again. But for a pocket daily in its price point, it's pretty good.

This is my new favorite light. I am shocked at how bright it is and how long the throw is for its size. Its teh first new light I have bought in years and its great.
The only problem is I am a leftie and keep this on my strong side (knife on support side and having both on the same side was uncomfortable). I constantly find that I am disengaging the lockout when I put things in my pocket (expecially my phone, the rubber case always hits it). I do not expect a lefty version of this, just something I have to deal with.
The edc 23 is a great light. I carry it daily. It has a low profile and is easy to use. I recently had a problem with the switch and customer service was quick to respond. I sent it back after receiving an RMA number and was sent a new light. All occurred within 2 weeks. They communicated with me throughout the process, which was really refreshing.
This review isn't for a new purchase; it is for a warranty issue. After almost a year of daily use my EDC23 quit working. I contacted Nitecore via email and sent my flashlight to them as requested. After a checking my return product it was determined that there was an issue and Nitecore immediately sent out a new EDC23. I couldn't have been happier with the service or the result and will recommend Nitecore products for the quality of the products and the support!

The nitecore EDC23 is nice! For a small light it packs a punch! 2500 lumens and it’s half the size of a regular flat tactical flashlight. It’s a great little light to grab or carry on the go! I own a few others of the EDC lights and they are great lights.
Button malfunctioned they sent me out a new flashlight promptly. I highly recommend.
Great light, very lightweight and compact for the power. Battery doesn't last for terribly long time on high, but it certainly works well and charges fast. Hope the batteries last a long time, as they aren't replaceable.
