Customers said the holster offers quality construction and fits compatible flashlights well. Some appreciate the tilting angle and locking features for secure carry. However, concerns were raised about the locking mechanism's reliability on duty belts, with one customer needing zip ties for security. Durability issues were also reported.
I like the previous generation of locking holder that Nitecore made in that the locking lever was between the light and the hip—harder to accidentally hook and open—the NTH29 definitely has this problem. It’s definitely a lower profile and not as bulky, but I don’t like the locking lever location.
The holster itself is a nice quality and seems sturdy enough to withstand the daily life of a patrol officer. The safety/locking mechanism however is another story. The lock is just a spring loaded latch that doesn’t have a solid locking feature to keep the holster secured to the belt. I was literally able to just pull the holster off the belt due to the spring loaded latch just letting go and not “locking” into place. While the spring tension seems like an easy on and off feature for swapping gear, it doesn’t allow for the holster to be fully secured to your belt or vest. I had to use two zip ties to fully secure it to my belt. Maybe if you’re putting it on a vest carrier that has molle webbing, it will be more secure, but not on a duty belt. I’m keeping it since it’s the only holster I can find to fit the Nitecore flashlight I purchased and really like, otherwise I would return it. But that requires me paying my own shipping and wasn’t given the option to swap out the previous holster I bought that said it was also for the same flashlight. Overall, good quality to an extent but the end product needs more development and testing and the return/exchange process needs some more work to allow the customer to obtain the right product for their gear.
After temporarily losing my flashlight during an emergency, due to inability to re-holster on a soft nylon holster, I can really appreciate the difference with the NH29.
I had their original holster, that was just a straight down vertical holster, and it did the minimum. I was hesitant in getting this upgraded holster, and I was afraid it's like 1.5"-2" sticking out from my duty belt would be a problem, but it isn't. It's actually the perfect length because now I can get into my car and bend over without my P23i coming off the holster like the old one did.
This holster is a great upgrade, allows you to tilt it at an angle, and now lock it in place. I love it so far and glad I purchased!
I am using it with a P23i flashlight.
This is junk, broke on me the first night.
