The HC75 headlamp has the power, function, and features of a fantastic headlamp. Unfortunately, the user interface is a total dealbreaker. Unless you are using the lamp day in and day out, do not buy, unless you intend to keep the manual in your pocket. Otherwise, you will never remember how to use half of the features that make the light great in the first place.
If you are still reading this, the electronic zoom is a brilliant game changer! The floodlight is super wide and smooth with no hotspot. The spotlight allows you to find whatever your are looking for at a distance with a quick press of the button. The color of the light is very natural and easy on your eyes.
The red light is super powerful if you can remember how to access it and offer you to see effortlessly around you without compromising your night vision.
Battery life on this lamp is everything you need and even more when you add the Carbon 6K Battery. For normal use, I am usually finding it most comfortable to use the light on medium power floodlight mode, although, when you need high and/or want turbo, it is there with plenty of battery to support the power.
The head strap is easily adjustable and makes the relatively heavy headlamp comfortable, especially using the top strap. It is also removable for washing or replacement.
USER-INTERFACE DETAIL: The operation of the light doesn’t even match the manual. Regardless of the power setting, if you pause more than two seconds before trying to change to another power setting, the light powers down entirely. When you turn the light back on, you have readjust the zoom each time. RESOLUTION: The light should only turn off with a long-press. The user should be able to cycle the light freely without it turning off and resetting. The manual already shows this but, the lamp in reality does not function as manual shows.
I hope the next version maintains the electronic zoom as the floodlight with no overwhelming hotspot in the center is really effective and takes some stress of your eyes. The user interface needs completely redesigned. The HC70 is much better than the HC75 in that aspect. Overall, I would save money and purchase the HC70 right now or wait for the next version with hopefully a more functional interface.
