I discovered another (third) significant error with the HC75 UHE (see my earlier review from June 5th for the first two problems), which brings this headlamp down to a one-star rating. It has some major programming errors, and it never should have gotten through their quality control.
I actually discovered some more peculiar sequences within the special modes (SOS, beacon, and flashing red LEDs) that are a little too complex to succinctly write about, but the third major flaw with this headlamp is when you enter Special Modes while the red LEDs are on.
To begin from "off", long-pressing the Zoom button will turn the headlamp on with the red LEDs. Then, enter Special Modes by rapidly double-clicking the Zoom button. This will activate the SOS sequence. While the SOS is flashing, return to the previous state by again rapidly double-clicking the Zoom button. (There is no rush to get through all of these in a fixed time limit. These functions are all supposed to work this way.) When you’re back to the red LEDs, turn the headlamp off by clicking the Power button.
This is where things go wrong. The headlamp should now be in an “off” state, and you should be able to turn the headlamp back on to the normal white lights by clicking the Power button. If you click the Power button nothing will happen. Click the Power button a second time (NOT a rapid double-click) within about 3 seconds and the red LEDs will turn back on. This is not supposed to happen. At this point, the Power button will only turn the red LEDs back on if you slowly click it twice.
The ONLY way I’ve discovered to get back to the white lights from here is to quickly double-click the Power button when off, to activate the Ultralow setting of the headlamp. Then, you can turn the headlamp off at this point, and when you turn it back on it should start to function normally again.
I strongly recommend avoiding this headlamp completely. There are too many things wrong with it, and they should pull it from the shelves until these issues are fixed. Nitecore should offer refunds to the people who have already purchased it.
