Customizable to Your Needs

Super-bright and stout, don't like the switches

The EDC 37 is a bright and stout flashlight. As far as self-defense applications go, this one will be able to blind/startle an opponent and it does provide a nice striking tool if need be. The glass breakers are a nice touch, but with a light this short there's a decent chance that you'll end up with cuts on your hand if you really use this to break through a window.
I bought this as a self-defense option and as such, it is good. The reason I only gave four stars is the switch layout. The one major flaw I see in the flashlight as a whole is that the main switch and its functions are rather poorly designed:half-press selects the brightness, full press turns it on and off - meaning that if you don't press hard enough the brightness will change - too much fine motor skill for a tactical light.
It would be nice to have a half-lockout that disables this switch but keeps the programmable switch active.
Overall I like the EDC37, but my go-to is still the P10iX due to the more robust, intuitive and gross-motor skill compatible switch layout.
Also, I would advise against airline travel with it... round lights get through TSA without problems - the flat lights have always received additional attention in form of a hands-on follow of after X-ray... the TSA screeners simply did not know what this light is - some mistook it for a taser.
