Nitecore P17iX Compact 5000 Lumen Tactical Flashlight with Customizable Controls

Great flashlight. Took a little to understand the full functions of the light however, I'm glad I took the extra time as I really understand the full capabilities of this light. Very easy to use once you read the instructions or watch the video. Recommended.

I was looking for a light this size with versatility and it achieves that. Unfortunately, the light falls short of my expectations. First of all, the light heats up way too fast to really benefit from Search and Luminshield. Secondly, the tail switch for those modes is entirely too sensitive making the lockout a must. The Strobe has a high pitched clipping noise, not something I would expect from a light in this price range and not enough candela for spot beam. I know this light will appeal to some people but this model missed the mark for me.

I have bought many flashlights from Nitecore. But I think this one is one of my favorites. Compact and easy to grip very bright and all around great flashlight.

It checks all my box’s!!!! Simple to use, extremely ergonomic, perfect power settings with 5000 lumens being well over enough lumens for any use. Replaceable battery is a must have for me. New cap is the best ever. My last flashlight, yeah right🤣

I had been waiting for this one for quite a while and Nitecore did pretty much stick the landing. My current carry rotation has been the P10ix, EDC 29 and Olight Warrior Ultra. Now with the P17ix, I have one light that can confidently do what all those lights do with a minimum off compromise. For instance, Nitecore still tends to not have good low ranges. 15lm is far too bright. .5 to 2 lumens should be the goal. That said, the 15lm in a flood is better than the 15lm combo beam of the EDC 29. The P10ix is better at 2lm and of course the Warrior Ultra is better at 1lm because it's combo beam has an awesome spot and isn't too narrow at close range which is when you'll most need low output. In talking about combo beams, generally Nitecore's are pretty tight with the hotspot and are pushing the candella so if you like that you like that. I like the Warrior Ultra's beam profile better since I mostly operating in urban settings and indoors. The P10ix has been my primary light since I got it but in more recent years, I've found that combo beams to have value if the output can go low enough. In this same time, we also starting seeming more companies offer the ability to pick or adjust beam profiles- being a flashoholic should be a choice not a requirement 😎 so beauty of the P17ix is that I can set or switch to the most appropriate beam profile. If I end up in an environment I didn't plan it's not a big deal. The P10ix would fails here where all the other lights with combo beams would not. The combo beam lights would then also fail if all of sudden I mostly need a spot beam. The customization of being able to do use search (a spot biased beam) and then strobe on my engage button matches the Warrior Ultra and is close to the Lumen Shield / Stroke setup for the EDC 29. Likewise the two stage main tail switch, I set up to be low and high, which is pretty much the same as my EDC 29 when it is set to the 400lm. The momentary / constant on function on the P17ix is similar to one of the modes of the Warrior Ultra and is not present in the EDC 29. Basically, the P17ix combines a lot of smart features and functions into one light. The only really hard knock against the P17ix is that 1) Nitecore is still chasing lumens instead of sustained output levels and 2) the flood mode still has a hot spot and yes it is noticeable and bit off putting. Initially you'll have a hard time determining if you are in combo or spot.

I would love to see Nitecore refine their beam profile tech to address #2. I also think the 5 power levels of my P10ix is better than the 4 of the P17ix. The spacing makes more sense and the lowest output is 2 lumens. Full customizable of the buttons would be welcome as well. Limiting buttons to groups of choices doesn't make sense. Let users do want they want. That's what we want and you'll get more valuable feedback on improvements and use cases.

I really like all the light's I've discussed here and I don't see pulling anything out of the rotation just yet but the P17ix is a lot of light and it is new. Hopefully Nitecore considers customer feedback and continues to allow for better user customization- programmable buttons aside, the basic mode of the P17ix, which is similar to the HC75 UHE interface that I hate, would made this a total fail for me until I saw that there was a professional mode that made far more sense. Being conscious of things like that especially since these light aren't firmware upgradeable at least shows that Nitecore can give customers what they want. I applaud them for that and hope they continue.

Great light, love the ability to customize settings and it can be locked with a switch. It does get hot fast with high settings.Love being able to do duty or tactical usage easily.

Instructions are confusing and don’t seem to work as designed on the flashlight

My new favorite. Easy to use, adjust and the safety is much more practical than most devices. If that wasn't enough, the holster next level and the lanyard with built in USB cable is genius.
